Tip #2 Get Insured!

Why Home, Auto, and Life Insurance Matter More Than You Think

Insurance isn’t the most glamorous financial topic, but it’s one of the most important. Without it, one accident, storm, or unexpected event could undo years of progress.

Protect Your Home and Belongings
  • Homeowners insurance is required if you have a mortgage and protects both you and your lender.
  • Renters insurance is affordable and covers your possessions (and liability) even if you don’t own the property.

ARC’s Liesl Kapfhammer shared how renters insurance saved her after a house fire: “It replaced property I never imagined losing. Without it, I don’t know how I would have started over.”

Auto Insurance Basics

Auto insurance isn’t optional in Pennsylvania. Coverage options include:

  • Liability for damages you cause.
  • Collision and comprehensive for your own car.
  • Uninsured/underinsured driver protection if the other driver isn’t covered.

Choose deductibles carefully and compare insurers. Price matters, but so does customer service—especially when you’re filing a claim after an accident.

Don’t Forget Life Insurance

Life insurance provides for your loved ones if something happens to you. In addition, some lenders offer optional loan protection insurance, covering loan balances in the event of disability or death.

Insurance = Financial Security

Skipping insurance to save money can backfire. Fires, accidents, or unexpected health events are costly—and often financially devastating—without coverage. Insurance ensures you can recover and move forward.

At ARC Federal Credit Union, we don’t sell insurance, but we believe in educating our members so they can make informed, proactive choices.
