Reorder Checks

You can access your personal or business accounts and perform transactions by using our Voice Response at (814)946-0857, option 2. This is available 24/7 as a complimentary service. We also offer online access to account information for free. To obtain this service, complete an online banking application for your personal or business account. Once your application is submitted and approved, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log in to Online Banking.

The funds are available for your use after the date printed on your receipt.

Each time the check is presented for payment and there is insufficient funds in the account to pay the check, the account is charged a fee of $35.00 and the check is returned to the payee. Checks can be presented for payment twice to ARC and may not be presented a third time.

You can use this card as credit or debit and the funds will both be deducted out of your checking account. We suggest you use "credit," these transactions are processed by MasterCard and debit transactions are processed by our ATM processor. Credit transactions allow for more "charge-back" rights in the event of fraud and don't hold additional funds in your account.

The time it takes a check to clear your account largely depends on how quickly the payee presents the check for payment. If the payee presents the item for payment as an ACH it can clear your account the same day. On the other hand, a check can be held for payment up to one year and still be presented for payment. The best way to avoid any problems and/or fees is to make sure the funds are in your account and available for payment before you write the check.

When a deposit is placed into the night depository, located at either branch, it is placed into your account the next business day after 9:00 AM.

Direct deposits are received from the Federal Reserve Bank by our processor by 6:45 AM and posted to your account by 7:00 AM on the date the vendor specifies for deposit or withdrawal. In cases of withdrawals, it is important that the funds are available in your account by the close of the business day BEFORE they are to be withdrawn.

Occasionally, there are times that there are delays in processing the ACH files, i.e power outages, processor delays, or Federal Reserve delays. We make every effort to post the ACH files as quickly as we can to avoid any inconvenience to our members.

That is a hold that the merchant put on your account to make sure you have enough funds to cover the transaction. To avoid this temporary hold, push "credit" at the pump instead of "debit." By choosing "credit" the hold amount is only $1. These temporary holds usually fall off of your account within two business days.

Your checking account at ARC is linked to your savings (share) account. If you have funds available in your savings account, our system will automatically move those funds to your checking to cover the charge. We can perform this Overdraft Transfer from savings to checking at no charge to you up to six (6) times per month. After the sixth (6th) Overdraft Transfer, you will be charged $3 for each additional Overdraft Transfer done that month.

If you do not have the funds in your savings to cover the charge, one of two things will happen:

  • Your Courtesy Pay coverage will kick in, allowing your account to be overdrawn for the amount of the item presented and charging you a $35 Courtesy Pay fee. However, the item presented to your account will be paid.
  • If you do not have, or have chosen to opt-out of, Courtesy Pay, the item will be returned to the sender unpaid and you will be charged a $35 NSF (insufficient funds) Fee. The merchant/individual who attempted to process the payment may also charge you a fee and may attempt to submit the item for payment again, possibly resulting in additional fees if funds have not been added to your account to cover the item and any previous fees.

If our standard Courtesy Pay coverage is not a product you are interested in, you can also talk to a loan officer about an Overdraft Line-of-Credit. This could also provide a small cushion for overdrafts for your account which may be more manageable for your financial situation.
