Your checking account at ARC is linked to your savings (share) account. If you have funds available in your savings account, our system will automatically move those funds to your checking to cover the charge. We can perform this Overdraft Transfer from savings to checking at no charge to you up to six (6) times per month. After the sixth (6th) Overdraft Transfer, you will be charged $3 for each additional Overdraft Transfer done that month.
If you do not have the funds in your savings to cover the charge, one of two things will happen:
- Your Courtesy Pay coverage will kick in, allowing your account to be overdrawn for the amount of the item presented and charging you a $35 Courtesy Pay fee. However, the item presented to your account will be paid.
- If you do not have, or have chosen to opt-out of, Courtesy Pay, the item will be returned to the sender unpaid and you will be charged a $35 NSF (insufficient funds) Fee. The merchant/individual who attempted to process the payment may also charge you a fee and may attempt to submit the item for payment again, possibly resulting in additional fees if funds have not been added to your account to cover the item and any previous fees.
If our standard Courtesy Pay coverage is not a product you are interested in, you can also talk to a loan officer about an Overdraft Line-of-Credit. This could also provide a small cushion for overdrafts for your account which may be more manageable for your financial situation.
