Answers at Your Fingertips
In the past year, a growing percentage of Americans reported finances as a source of stress in 2023, according to the American Psychological Association (APA). Around three-quarters of adults aged 18-34 stated that the economy (72%), housing costs (70%), and money (82%), were "significant" sources of stress - specifically stress about having enough money to pay for basic needs. The APA had reported money as the number one stressor in America from 2007, when their survey began, until 2020 and 2021 when it was understandably surpassed by stress from the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's no secret that stress can have adverse effects on our health, and living under continued stress has been linked to many poor physical and mental health conditions: migraines, heart disease, sleep disorders, depression, and anxiety, to name a few.
